Cath, John and I took off from Cline Spit in Sequim, WA for an enjoyable paddle through the thick, warm fog that had settled over the bay. A minus tide made for an interesting paddle out to the long pier where we found fish and crabs, and many herons and eagles. Slowly the sun burned the fog off, but not after we tried a shortcut across the flats to find deeper water from the Dungeness River which meant a long boat drag through the mud!
On the road above, where we saw a number of Clallam County Sheriff cars, was the place where a drunken motorcyclist had missed the 45 degree turn on Marine Drive only 8 hours before and plunged 75 feet to the beach, which instantly killed him.
