A three day jaunt along the Olympic Coast of Washington.
Finding a perfect weather window on the WA coast is not easy, or frequent. We somehow scored in May with not only minimal onshore wind, but temps in the mid-60s F, blue skies, good friends and the aurora boreilus – frankly about one of the best coast trips possible!
We opted to take the overland shortcut to Scott’s Bluff and down to the beach. The path is through beautiful treed rolling topography with just a couple rope assist sections at the very end. could be boggy with the creek crossings, but all were easily crossed.
Once on the beach it was an easy walk to Toleak Point around Graveyard and Strawberry Points. Low tides were necessary to avoid long headland climbs.
An American Dipper in the creek.
We got to enjoy balmy 80F days and nights filled with the northern lights. A good trip like this is made ever sweeter by sharing it with amazing friends. A great way to start the summer!
